  • MIG instructional video?

    Hey folks,

In a prior life I was pretty good at stick welding (or at least I convinced myself I was). I just bought a Handler 135 and have learned that stick techniques don't transfer well to MIG.

Does anyone know of a video which demonstrates proper MIG techniques? (the closest community college is an hour away, and I'm lazy). My primary interest in MIG welding is car restoration, if that factor is important.

    Tnx

    Jim

Right above you is the Hobart Welders page, and a tab titled 'Welding 101'. Follow the links and you'll get to some info on MIG welding, such as:
    MIG Welding
    Aluminum MIG Welding
    Self-Shielded Flux Cored Welding
    TIG Welding
    Stick Welding
    Plasma Cutting
    Resistance Welding

    No videos, but good info.

Answer II: I just did a search on Google for MIG Welding Video and got back a lot of hits. Here are a couple of interesting ones:

Your Source for MIG, TIG, and Stick Welders, Plasma Cutters, Welding Equipment and Supplies. USA Weld, a distributor of welding equipment and accessories in the USA. Quality tools with quality value.

All in all, there were some 6740 sites listed.

      Good Luck!

          MIG instructional videos

          Uncle Danny,
Tnx for the info on the videos. I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't think about doing a google search. :-\ A couple of the sites you included look very promising. I just need a video of how to hold the gun position relative to the piece, feed rate and what the final weld should look like. Probably five minutes with a competent weldor and a couple of dope-slaps and I'd be in business.

          Arc Burn,
Tnx for the pointer to Miller's e-Learning site. Good info there.

Tnx again to both of y'all.

          Jim
