I'm hoping Rock can help me out here,my 3035 is to light duty,so i'm looking at the 3545.I know the 30A is the way to go but after i buy everything to make that portable i will have spent some big bucks, maybe down the road, but not right now.My question is the 3545 looks bigger and has a 200 a 60% duty cycle vs my 150a 60% duty cycle, will the extra 50 amp capability keep me from screaming and pulling my hair out?

ARC BURN....... THE EXTRA 50 AMPS WILL HELP SOME...... SO I'M GUESSING WERE SOMEWHERE AROUND 100-130 AMPS WELDING......... I LOOKED IN THE RECONDITIONED STOCK LISTING BUT NO 30A SPOOL GUNS.......... AND NO 3545 EITHER.... BUT THERE ARE SOME 15' AND 30' XR-A AND XR-W PUSH PULL SYSTEMS IN THERE.............. LAST YEAR MY BROTHERS AND I USED A MM-210 AND A 3035 TO INSTALL A LINER IN A ALUMINUM DUMP TRAILER.......... GRANTED NOT 48' BUT IT WAS A 32' ONE, WITH OUT CONSUMEING A BUNCH OF FRONT END PARTS......... HOWEVER ALL OF US WORKED ON IT AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND HAD IT DONE IN ABOUT 5 DAYS AS I RECALL......... NOTICE NOT IN ONE DAY HERE IN THIS INSTANCE........... LET ME HOOK UP WITH MIKE, MARIE,KEVIN, OR DOUG AT LIGHT INDUSTRIAL AND SEE IF THEY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS.......... THESE SPOOL GUN'S ARE THEIR'S................. LET'S SEE WHAT OTHER IDEAS POP UP HERE WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING......ROCK..

Arc Burn,
You don't need to purchase a new gun or a new machine for what you are doing. Instead, just purchase a barrel assembly for a 3545 Spoolmate, part number 199385. Your consumables will be different, but this will up you to the same rating as the Spoolmate 3545. The only other difference between the two guns is the 3545 has more top end wire speed, that you don't really need. Hopefully this will help. The 30A and 15A are definitely more of an industrial grade gun though.

Thanks for waiting for me guys, here goes!
I'm runnin the 3035 with the sga 100c box off a Ranger 250 gas welder(no Lincoln wise cracks either!)Like mentioned,it's a 48' trailer i'm working on,alot of welding.I keep melting tips and got it so hot twice i screwed up 2 head assemblys. When you first start,it welds fine but after a couple welds and it gets warm it goes to **** and starts melting tips.I never expected miracles but i think it should be able to weld a little longer than it does,i'm not real sure what route to go,the 30A is probably my best bet but i'm in a bit of a bind and probably should not shell out that much money just yet.If you guys think the 3545 head assembly is a good idea than i'll give that a try?
Also i runnin about 21 volts on the rangerLast edited by Arc Burn; 05-20-2003, 12:40 PM.

The Spoolmate 3545 barrel assembly should work fine. I figure you are probably running approximately 140amps with 21v. The problem with this and the 3035 is you have 150amps-60% duty cycle, and when doing this type of work you are probably running very close if not a little going over duty cycle. The gun can't shut down and the welder has a higher duty cycle.

butthead,
I'll give you the information on how to hook up a 15A or 30A spoolgun to the MM210, then you can make your decision. The 3545 Spoolmate will hook straight up to the MM210 just like the Spoolmate 3035, and like I said the real only difference is the 3545 has more top end wire speed, caused by a gear difference in the two guns, and the barrel assembly which gives it the higher amperage rating.
To hook up the 15A or 30A to a MM210 you need to purchase a Millermatic PSA and a WC24, along with the spolgun. The spoolgun plugs into the WC24, the WC24 plugs into the MM-PSA, the MM-PSA plugs into a 115V receptacle, and then the trigger lead with the 10 pin amphenol plug needs to plug into the 4 pin trigger receptacle on the MM210. So you need to cut off the 10 pin amphenol plug on the MM-PSA and relug the two wires with the correct lugs for the 4 pin, and purchase a 4 pin plug so you can plug it into the MM210 trigger receptacle. In this way the wire speed control on the handle of either the 15A or 30A will work.
I never said it would be easy or cheap, but it can be done. To give you an idea of cost:
Spoolmatic 30A,stock number:130831, list price: $995.00
MM-PSA, stock number:195019, list price:$249.00
WC24, stock number:137549, list price:$238.00
4 pin amphenol with socket lugs, field kit, stock number: 079878, list price:$11.77
Have fun ... Mike

thanks for the info i will probably go with the 3545 but was wondering how it works overall. i had heard the bigger guns were better but would cost alot more. has oneone hoooked up an older gun that was not designed for this machine to it i was wondering . talked to a welding shop that said they could hook any gun to it , i guess it just will take a little more money thanks for the info this seems to be a great site to learn or get questions answered thanks

Just to clarify, the 3035 gun worked awesome in the shop hooked up to the 210 and working on smaller projects. This particular problem was probably my fault,i exceeded the duty cycle far to often but the poor gun could do nothing about it but overheat and melt tips
For the cost of the 3545 barrel assembly though,i think it's a no brainer, might as well slap it on
