  • Miller Mig Mate Questions

I am looking at purchasing a Miller Mig Mate welder. The welder is about 15 years old and doesn't have a zillion hours on it, but it has been used. Please let me know your thoughts on this welder. The guy wants $500 for the welder which includes the bottles, the regulator, etc. Is this a "reasonable" deal?

Please let me know and thanks.

Dave, the Miller/Hobart guys will be along in the morning. If you do buy the welder, the owner's manual is not available for download, but you can buy one from Miller.

      Thanks for the reply.

It's been about 10 years since I've taken any welding classes and I'm just building up my first shop. I have the opportunity to purchase this Miller Mig Mate however I'm not too familiar with the welder. I'm primarily concerned about it's reliability, it's functionality (how well it works and how easy it is to use), and if spare parts are readily available. At the asking price of $500, I could also buy one of the little, portable welders new. I know that this welder probably has more power, but I'm not sure if I'll ever weld much over 1/4" steel and the little ones are rated for that thickness.

Does anyone have direct experience with this welder and if so, what's your assessment?

Please let me know and thanks.
