I saw that one too. Sure is a nice looking machine, but I think a little pricey in fact if your looking for a deal an auction is best I think, e-bay is nice but people will pay a good deal for those Pow Cons probably were told about them from cope. I'm going to a couple auctions the next two weekends, hopefully I'll find some equipment to add to my shop.
I have a welder generator coming monday from lincohn for field work.

Jerry, I like PowCon, but not at that price. It looks like new. I asked my b-i-l last week what he paid for mine in 1986 and he said between $2200-2500, but he couldn't remember exactly. Gun on that one looks like a mini-mig and 300 amps would fry it in a hurry.

The hands down best stick welder i have ever used were a pair of Powcons we had at my previous job, very sweet machines.I wanna say the were 400s?can't remember but the best part was the price, they picked them both up at a goverment auction like new for $300 each!

My 250 amp does a nice job on stick also. Seems to run hotter that the manual says. I could sell my old Miller 250 amp AC for what I paid for it 25 years ago and get by with the PowCon, but i'm greedy and it doesn't take any maintenance.

Scott, That one is definately low mileage. But the mig gun is too small, though I like the QD fitting, and where is the place for a cylinder? Neat cart design other than that. I may have to make a new one for mine. Good thing I don't have an extra $2400 lying around.

I just looked at the ebay pictures again and noticed that the wire feed is plugged into the - and not the +. Hope whoever buys it re-connects it correctly.

Must be the government loved them machines cause there's a bunch of em for sale on the Government Liquidators auction site and they'll probably be cheaper than the one on
                EPay.

They need to rather than pay their pensions. Doubt there would be much of a market for a dilapidated windbag.

Be real careful, this is a division of Levy Latham auctioneers, and these guys are famous for cute dealing.
Among their tricks are removing lots after the close of auction, and pictures that don't match the item being sold. You don't want to bid on the lots unless you inspect them.
