I doubt that this is doable, and if it is, I sdoubt Coleman will tell you. Coleman gen sets are OK for light use, but for welding application you really need something with more clout.

Good question but I probbly can not help you. It all depends if the generator has two seperate 120 volt windings in it. If it does then you can do a modification to get 220. What it would take to do it I couldnt say. What You need to do is call Colman and see if they can help. I would not even atempt this with out knowing for sure.

5000 watt generator run Handler 175?

This question is probably more for Dave than anyone else, however, other input is always helpful. I have a 5000 watt Coleman generator but it does not have a 220 plug in. It would be great to use my Handler 175 off that generator. Can you direct me as to how I can modify the Coleman so it can be used with the Handler 175?
A side issue: If I had known about this site I would have bought nothing but Hobart products. Support in this area, for novices like me, is as important as the (supposed) support in computer technology. Hope you guys stay around.
    Sincerely,
