  • Handler 175

Howdy from Colorado! I recently purchased a Handler 175 and have a Ranger 8. Question is: How do I hook up the Handler 175 to the Ranger 8 and what potential problems do you know about?
    thanks,

The Handler 175 will plug into the 220 volt receptical on the Ranger 8. The Handler only pulls 20 amps on the input so I see no problems with the Ranger suppling enough input current to run the Handler.
    Thanks

Thank you Dave. You did not mention any problems and from what you wrote it should be fine. I will give it a try.

BY THE WAY THE HANDLER DRAWS 20 AMPS BUT IF MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECTLY YOU HAVE A 25 AMP CIRCUIT BREAKER ON EACH LEG OF THE 230 VOLT OUTLET DON'T YOU........... SO YOUR RUNNING IT ON A 50 AMP CIRCUIT............... THINK SAFETY HERE NOW.....ROCK

            Rock:
I will need to check that out. If there are 25 amps to each leg what ramification will that have with my plugging it in? The Handler 175 I have is 50 amp 220 volt. The ranger can put out 60 amps. What are the primary safty concerns?

KCOONEY...........I ALWAYS LIKE TO SEE A MACHINE RUN ON WHAT IT WAS INTENDED TO RUN ON 20 AMPS ON A 20 AMP CIRCUIT....... YES IT WILL RUN BUT IF THE UNIT (MIG) GET'S INTO TROUBLE THE POTENTIAL IS THERE TO EXCEED THE 20 AMP DRAW AND NOT KICK UNTIL IT HIT'S 60 AMPS.............. SORRY ONE OF THE DRAW BACKS TO THIS JOB IS ALWAYS THINKING SAFETY.......... DOES THAT MAKE SENSE TO YOU.......................?...........ROCK...... [email protected]

There is not any problems hooking this welder up to the Ranger 8. I know the Ranger has the 60 amp breaker on it, But the Handler has a 20 amp breaker on the back of it that protects the welder from over current, This will trip if there is a problem first.

As long as you have atleast a 5,000 watt generator you will be able to run the Handler 175.

Good morning! Last night I hooked the Handler 174 up to the Ranger 8 and it worked beautifully. Now I need to get some cables for the Ranger to use the stick and a power line to run the Handler 50ft. away from the ranger. Then I will be equiped without the knowledge. Thanks for all your help. kcoon.
