  • Got a Job.

Well I am glad I did not take the $10.00 an hour job. I got one starting at $13.00 an hour with full benefits (zero copay) and a 15% pension with vacation. Once I get my certs with the company my pay will go up pretty good. I'll be installing/repairing/re tubing heat exchangers. Some weeks I will be flying to TX GA CA and other states to do work, I get $27 a day for meals when out of town. I am pretty excited to start, it will be cool seeing the other states (for free)

Congrats, Just a word of caution. I have in my past traveled for a large machinery builder of laminating and converting equipment. I would oversee the sheet metal installation. My word of caution tends to deal with being gone it sounds good for seeing the country but don't get caught iup in the bars every night like so many field service men I knew and did to. After a while I would treat every trip as a vacation with camera in tow and I'd find everything about its location and try to enjoy it.

Good luck with new job and enjoy it as a vacation and learning experience for you.

Wow Jerry, good point,A buddy of mine works for a major excavating contractor and they travel the entire east coast,VERY good money but as soon as they are done for the day a few of them head straight for the gin mill,he goes for dinner and a few brews but then goes back to the motel to get some sleep while the others come staggering in during the we hours of the morning!

I'm sure Tungsten won't have this problem ,good luck with your new job

Tungsten: Good for you. You'll definetly get some experiance especially rolling tubes TIG - stick and maybe even some brazing. Do everybody a favor and follow all the safety rules especially when you are inside one. Let us know from time to time how you are making out. Do me a favor, let me know if you ever use dynamite on the tube sheet to blow tubes. Heard of this process but have never done it. Just always used a driver to punch tubes out. Thanks & good luck Stu

I'll let you guys know how is goes, I don't think I'll have a problem with the bars. I don't drink, I did when I was younger, but I can't stand the stuff anymore. I am probably the only 21 year old that did not go to a bar on his birthday
