Dan what is the thickest metal you would try to do spray transefer on assuming all paramaters are optimum (proper joint preparation and metal is clean) with the MM210.
Arc Burn, thanks for the response. I did a search after I posted that question and found his answer in an earlier post (I should have done that earlier. I called Miller and spoke to Denny. After talking with him I am going to pick up the MM251 with a 90/10 mix and .035 dia wire. This combo should cover short circuit and spray transfer for me. I can't wait to get this home this evening and start playing. Only thing is its the wife B-day and I need to pretend not to be to excited about my new welder..)))
251 aye Bob?Nice choice!I really wanted to get into aluminum quick and kinda cost efficiently, hence the 210 and spool gun.The 251 alone is certainly worth the extra few bucks but when you add the bigger spool gun things start to get a little out of hand ,i'll trade up in a few years anyways(always seems to happen that way!)Good luck with the new machine!
Hey,you didn't forget to get the wife something for her B-day did ya
Bob,Dan didn't really like 90/10 with .035 wire.Too many volts to run right. You will be at the very top of the power curve.I run 90/10,and .035 with my stuff, and it really takes some volts to get working right.Plus the short arc is not as good for overall work. The thing doesn't want to stay in short arc as long.I would maybe probaly try some tri-gas for that machine.I have had some real good luck with it,and I really think it might be made to order for the 210.They have lots of different % for some interesting combinations for way different arcs. You might be breaking into some new areas with that machine.I used one that was something like 95% argon,3% Co2,2% O2.Then one that was about 95/2.5/2.5.I think the last one was for thinner metal. That gas is hard to find sometimes, but their are others. It sprays way lower then 90/10,and also really had a nice short-arc weld bead. That was with my machine so your mileage may vary.It doesn't cost that much more.Something to think about when you are running on tap seven, and really working that machine. You also might want to get some heavier front end parts for your gun if you do very much at all. Also some shields for your off hand. You will learn that right away.Cover yourself up or you will get a wicked sunburn right now.like on your neck. This info is something nobody tells you until you learn the hard way.
Bob,I missed the part where you are going to the 251 so the gas deal doesn't matter with that machine as much. But covering yourself up does still count.
