  • galvanized stick?

I have just bought a stick welder as have been using migs for years. Bought the stick as heavier farm and truck things to do. My question is:. When welding galvanized, what type electrode should be used?
I will Thank you in advance!

Need to know how thick of stuff your working on here. If its thick I would say 6011 that will burn hot and burn throught that coating. your better off to grind off that coating and go with a 6013 or 7018. That coating can be nasty stuff when its buring or grinding off. make sure you have a LOT of fresh air at all times!

Watch that 7018 it needs to be kept dry and in a rod oven.

    Thats just my thoughts thoe.

Hello OMS, you were right on with the E6011 or E6010. Use a whipping technique, this will help to volatize the coating in front of your weld. Do a search on this topic, I know last year I gave a lengthy answer on this.

I've been working mostly. This last weekend (Easter) I worked the whole thing, finally got the scooter out on Sunday evening about 6pm.
