Great thread! Can we see some one with the Miller and Thermadyne products do the same thing?? A Miller 375 and the Cutmaster 38 would be a great example.
Dave,a side view of the bevel tells alot more in the quality of the cut.Like on .250,and .375 steel.Also a close up with some .120 aluminum is what most people will be cutting with those machines.
I was just experimenting, free hand, no straight edge. The machine is rated as follows: recommeded: 1/4"; Maximum: 3/8" and severence: 1/2". It for sure does the 1/2" in mild steel, just a rougher cut.

Dave I was looking around Hypertherms site this morning for a downloadable operators manual and couldn't find it. I can swear that I had seen a place to do that on their site. Do you know where the link is.
I was pretty much trying to hold the torch vertical. No standoff. From what I've read, one is not available with the Powermax 380. I don't know why, possibly could make one? I believe the Cutmaster 38 has one available. On the manual: I have not seen a downloadable version. Is there a particular item or info that you're interested in? Maybe I could scan and post or e-mail to you. Let me know.
Also, earlier post had a link to Plasma Cam, a cutting system. They had a table on their site that compares a number of the leading plasma cutters. I'll try to find it. It's nice to compare features etc.
Hopefully I'll post some more cutting pics today.

I've got some more pics, they're not the greatest. I'm still working with air filter situation. It seems what I'm trying to put just ahead of the Plasma Cutter is not allowing enough cfm into the unit. I noticed that it makes a big difference having the ground clamp attached directly to the work piece. I get careless with welding sometimes and it doesn't make as much difference. The unit seems to like mild and stainless steel better than brass and aluminum. I guess that wasn't a surprise. All pics are with unit on 230-volt circuit and set to max, which is 27-amps.
