Purge Question

SruBurn to purge the HH 135 look at your voltage knob if you turn it below the # 1 setting it says purge when you turn it to this setting there is no juice to the mig gun or wire feed it just purges the air from the system. When you do this make sure your sheilding gas botttle is turned, this is also useful for setting your working pressure so you don't have to waste wire. Hope this helps !

Nobody answered me about how to purge the Handler 135. How do you do it?

On the little welders voltage control switch there is a position thats says fan only.No juice to the gun,and no wire feeding.It only purged the gas for about one second if that.Nothing in the manual had anything on it,that I could find.So I just thought it was a way to suck dirt into the machine while your not welding,or to cool off the operator.

Century uses it on their better units as did Seelye (now available only in Canad) and PowCon. Simple switch can't cost that much to add. Easy enough to DIY, except you shouldn't have to do that!

Should say purge.

Also I don't know on the new ones,but a button to purge the gas is the best setup to me.Very simple.I wish all my welders had that,even the ones pushing over 4000.00 forgot it.So I guess the little Miller was not as bad as my Thermal tig,and my new lincoln powerwave.They give you nothing.

I feel that purge defines the purpose of this option much better then fan only .

Purge would make more sense to me; also, make it a two way rocker or toggle and have a wire feed on the other side. Needs to purge continuously while switch is engaged.

I have the 135, how do you purge it? Do you flip the tension adjustment over?

Purge

My little Miller 130 xp did the same thing.It really was a dumb setup.Mine didn't say purge just fan only,when you hit the trigger it would purge for about one second.Somebody was on the ball when they figured that setup out,or maybe just too much time on their hands.

I have the hh175, and when it first puffs it has a hiss afterwards.
The gauge should change up and down as you hit and release the switch.

You can check this by looking at the gauge, its highest before hitting the swith 28, hit the gun switch and the meter will go down alittle to 20 and stay there until you let go, then it goes higher again.

If this is happening you probably ok. I'm assuming your using solid wire. How is your weld quality? Is it smooth or very porus when you have a 3/16 arc length?

When I set my H135 to the "Purge" cycle, when I press the trigger, I only get a short (1 second?) phffft out of the gun. Is this operating correctly? Just concerned that when I do set it to a heat setting, that enough shield gas is covering the arc, with a continuous gas flow. Thanks in advance!
