I've been trained not to use oil on the regulators, but never knew exactly what the reaction is. I've heard about the regulators blowing off. Can anyone explain whay? Thanks

When a fuel (oil) is exposed to oxygen, the flash point of the fuel is lowered (think about a diesel engine). Pressure accelerates that phenomenon, the oil ignites, and ruins your day.
