Reverse Polarity is DC Electrode Positive ( DCEP ) and used for solid wire with shielding gas?
I have some 3/8" rod I need to weld to some 5/8" rod ( 1018 HR ). I need 100% penatration so it can be heated and bent afterwards. Since I just have .030 wire at the moment: Bevel the 3/8" stock to a point, align with 5/8" stock and tack, preheat with torch to black heat, weld at ~27 Volts and about 500 ipm on feeder using 80/20 gas.
Sound OK? Use DCEP ( which is reverse? )?
Thank's, Fred.
