Lighting and shuting down O/A torch

I have just got a new to me Victor O/A Torch. I have been told always turn on the Acetylene at the torch first, then add the O2. Shutdown was the reverse, shut off the O2, then the Acetylene.

A gentleman at work gave me a O/A safety guide that sayes to shutdown the Acetylene first, then the O2. The Victor Manual sayes the opposite.

Always the acetylene first...turning off the O2 first won't clear the torch from the fuel...I've seen guys do that thinking their torch was off, only to discover that the Acetylene leaked a little and started a fire after they laid the torch down....Acetylene on first....acetylene off first.

On the tanks...turn the Oxy on several turns....the acetylene 1/4 turn.....why? That's so you can turn off the acetylene quick in an emergency...like a leaky gauge...that gets your adrenaline pumping.

Light the torch with the acet on & then adjust to the proper flame for whatever process you are using. (soldering,brazing,cutting, or, welding)
Turn the acet off first when shutting down the torch.
Open oxy tank valve all the way & the acet tank valve 1/4 turn open.(sometimes it may take a little more, but only 1/4 turn after the gauges pressurize.
