  • smaw groove/fillet weld test in flat position weld settings?

I was have a weld test coming up and would like some advice on weld settings, all I can find in my old books from school is weld the hottest you can handle. doesn't really help me out that much, I have limited metal as I am practicing in my backyard. What do you like to do run for beads? 2 or 3 to the backing strip? I also have a FCAW in flat position, what kind of settings do you like to use, same groove and fillet test. I don't like to use max. heat, something hot but manageable. I know it's always good to wait five mins before the cap pass and guessing 5 yo 90 amps is good for smaw.
