  • 7014 out of position- help

I'm welding support brackets to a roof for a/c units. Its 1/4" angle, all the welds are overhead vertical and horizontal. I have a AC machine set at 100amps useing 1/8" electrodes. 6011 works good, except most of the welds are concave. I want to use 7014 but can't quite get it. All the 7014 welds have holes or get too hot and drip half way through. On the bench welding flat I don't have a problem.

You generally drop your amperage about 10% for out-of-position welding.
