Rocky D your shop is clean and well organized. But, your welding for aircraft manufacturer required good work habits.

Where I worked we had 15 or 20 Airco PA-3's, that all had filters on them. The one thing that ruins a machine is FOD or dust in a high FOD, (floating object debris) (dust), environment. They should have the covers pulled off every so often and be blown out...depending on the amount of FOD in a certain amount of time.
The welders we use are blown out once a month.
But they took off the filters because of warranty issues. Seems Miller thinks
they need unrestricted air flow to keep cool enough.

Ahhh, Foot, I love ya, man. That looks kinda like my fridge. (The food one, not the beverage one!)

I often wonder how many of the same size sockets I have, 'cause if I can't find the one I need, I'm likely to go buy another!

You may remember some of my post mentioning that we had to label everything, we even had to establish a flow of work through the weldshop...work comes in, it's work accomplished, with specialized tools, in succession, and then out to a staging area...all of this had to be posted in a picture outside the weldshop, along with a white board showing the work in progress, at all times. It's CS like that, that caused me to retire. And I loved my little shop.

Filters are good, but the problem is they are often neglected. Once full, all they do is restrict airflow, so most of the time, there is probably less of a risk of damage from FOD than there is of overheating.

You can usually tell what the quality of the work is going to be by looking at the cleanliness of the shop.

In Mike W. shop I seen that he had clutter ( alot of tools) but very orginized so I would assume he does very high quality work and the same for Rocky & SBerry.

If you were trying to loose weight you wouldnt go to a trainer that was 50Lbs over weight would you.

Same goes for a shop, Dirty shop, low quality of work.

I'm sure there are exceptions to this rule but I would bet 90% of the time what I said holds true.

Dave, you reminded me of the rest of the story about The Airco Pa-3's we had the filters on...as I recall, they only lasted until they were dirty, and no one wanted to go through the hassle of changing filters, so one by one, they got thrown away.
