    Hey, Rock or Dan

This is Soupbone again. Can I weld with just flux core ? About how much does flux core cost? Tell me exactly I am not a pro at this like you guys are. Before I forget thanks Rock for your help on my last questions. So I should get CO2 and argon mix 75% 25% right for steel or sheet metal and steel wire not flux core to weld steel and or sheet metal right guys? What is a good welder glass to protect my eyes and to see my work real good with?

    Thanks
    Soupbone

Self shielding fluxcore wire requires no shielding gas. Can use .030 & .035 fluxcore wire with HH135. Common problem is not using correct polarity when changing from fluxcore wire to solid wire. Read and follow instructions in welding michine's manual helps a lot. I had to read it many times before some things were learned.

You will use shade 10 filter for most welding with your HH135. For welding 20 gage and thinner steel I use shade 9 filter. I can see better with the gold plated welding filters. Different people use darker or lighter shades for same welds. If filter is too dark to see puddle and weld joint in frount of puddle then use lighter filter. If you are bothered by puddle & arc being too bright for comfort use darker filter. Don't look at the arc but look around the arc scanning the back of puddle for shape of bead, sides of puddle for filling in weld bead's under cut during pause of side weave and leading edge of puddle for penetration.
