  • Changing Polarity

This is so cool!!!! this forum is great I love all these questions and all the different opinions. I have an ancient westinghouse gas powered portable that I have been told is wwII surplus and have wondered if I can change polarity by simply switching the grd and electrode holder. Thanks in advance.

yes you can change polarity by switching the electrode and ground if it is a D C welder, ac won't make any difference.

If you attach quick connects - you can easily change polarity to match your electrode.

Chances are that 90%+ of your work will be with electrode positive.
