  • welding on an angle

I've welded quite a few things around the house recently that were unusually shaped and had varying levels of success at making a decent looking weld. The thought arised at what angle would I quit using a technique for a horizontal weld and switch to a technique for a vertical weld ?

these were kind of sizable objects which is why I didn't just reposition them for a horizontal weld.

    thanks.

    Jack,

When I am doing projects like that, I try to keep the gun angle constant in relation to the work. If you see the puddle starting to droop, it's time to modify the angle of the gun to compensate.

BTW...How do you add the pics into the body of the message. I can't seem to be able to figure that one out. Thanks.

the pics have to be on a webserver somewhere like this Hobartwelds one for instance. you then use the IMG button
on the reply screen toolbar and paste in the URL to the image.
then you can put that wherever you want in your msg.

most of the images I use in posts here are hosted on this webserver. I just find the path (URL) to the image by rightclicking on the image and getting the properties of it. one of the properties is it's address (URL).
