I see you must be from Midland. I worked in the Ludinton plant several times in the early 80's. Where were you when they built C dryer there? What a mess. I was working for Northern Boiler when they went in to fix it. l also worked on the old A and B dryers there. They were actually kind of historical in showing how long you can keep a piece of machinery in service with a torch and a welder. Thousands of repairs and patches and who knows how many thousands of pounds of welding rods. Jacked whole sagging floors back up in it. It was my first Ironworking job and had to crawl like a rat. I also know a couple retired folks you might from the Midland plant. I believe they worked in research.

Hi Sberry27,
My department did very little work at the Ludington site. It seemed that the Ludington leadership historically didn’t want much help from us at the “Mother” site. Your description is proof of that fact for sure.
Yes, I know Northern Boiler out of Muskegon and their satellite in Bay City pretty well. In fact it just so happens I’ve been wearing one of their old ball cap handouts from years ago!LOL
There's no such thing as a welding problem, there are only welding puzzles of assorted sizes!

Hi Stu,
Great to meet you and maybe I have, though my department did little work in Ludington. I started with Local 85 here in the mid-60’s and then hired into Dow and since I’ve worked with them throughout my career, I know a lot of them. You probably heard about (maybe you were there) because your name sounds familiar, the Harbor Beach job where I met a bunch of folks out of Local 636 working for PPP.
I’ll email youThere's no such thing as a welding problem, there are only welding puzzles of assorted sizes!
