does any one have any experence with a miller dialarc hf. the man says it about 20 years old i tiged some ss seemed to be all right thanks

thanks for the reply. the sn#jc61666. i found this board after e-mailing the miller web site twice and got no answer. the question was can i get a spool gun for my mm 120. dialarc will not mig will it. thanks

That serial number is missing one digit. Our serial numbers in that range should have six numbers after the JC.

As for the MM120, if you can find a serial number on that I can make sure of the unit that you have. Off hand a Spoolmate 3035 can be adapted to just about any CV power source by means of an SGA100 adapter box. Spoolmate 3035 part number is 195016 and the SGA100 part number is 043856.

A Dial Arc HF is a CC unit, the only way you would be able to mig weld with it is with a voltage sensing wire feeder. The problem with this set up is both the dial on the front of the machine and wire speed dial will adjust amperage, so dialing in parameters for welding isn't easy.

The Dial Arc HF you have there was built in 1982 and is a good AC/DC stick/Tig unit. I would not recommend trying to turn this unit into a Mig unit. As for your second question a spoolgun can be easily added to your Millermatic 120 you only need 2 items: 1-043856 SGA 100 adapter and 1-195016 Spoolmate 3035. This combination works very well for 3/16" down to about 14ga aluminum and depending on the size of the piece you are welding you may be able to get 1/4" also.
