I'm getting ready to finish weld a roll cage and frame in my car. The question is, which shielding gas would be better for what I want. I understand that CO2 would have better penetration, but I also need to do some sheetmetal work. And due to being on a budget, I only want to buy one bottle.
Will the CO2 work ok for both applications or should I buy a bottle of the 75/25 mix gas?
    Thanks for the help.

75/25 should work just fine for what your doing. Besides the fact that it will produce a weld bead with better mechanical properties then CO2 will, which I feel is important when you talking about a roll cage.
MigMaster 250- Smooth arc with a good touch of softness to it. Good weld puddle wetout. Light spatter producer.
Ironman 230 - Soft arc with a touch of agressiveness to it. Very good weld puddle wet out. Light spatter producer.

I assume you are talking about mig welding, then 75/25 as dan suggested, but if you are tig welding , then argon.

Sorry, I forgot to include that the items will be welded with a mig.
I have the Hobart Handler 175, and have had good success with it.

Thanks for all the help and the comments.
Hopefully I'll get this project doen this year and instead of working on the car, I'll get to race it. That would be nice.
            Thanks again
