I am currently working on some 304 schld.160 pipe with all socket-weld fittings. I am running 308L blue max rod 1/8 at about
115 amps. Bead appearance looks good some spatter but not much. My question is Is this this way too much heat and if it is will it weaken the joint? Tried running at lower amperage had problems with cold starts and when lapping beads looked a little cold. Thanks

75 to 115 amps is what is recommended. I like to run them a little hot. 308 is very forgiving, you won't have to worry about weakening the joint.

Oh, BTW welcome to the forum!
