  • cast iron heads

I'm wanting to do a cylinder head swap on a straight six motor with cast iron heads. The other head has 12 water jacket holes in it that need to be sealed. Some use epoxy, but I'm wanting something more permanent. I have the Hobart 175 so any suggestion on welding these holes and what type of wire to use would be great.
I've been lurking for awhile and you guys rock.
    Thanks,
    Tom

Any welding process would have to be followed by
remachining the flat surfaces because of warpage.
I go with some high temp. epoxy.
    Why the extra holes?
work safe, always wear your safety glasses.

The newer motor uses them for cooling, but on my older block they are not used. The newer head flows better and will fit on the older block.

Won't the head gasket seal the extra ports?

          Cast iron head repair

Have the holes filled via metal locking. This a mechanical repair the is pressure tight and does not cause any warping. Check out www.metalocking.com for an in-depth explanation.
