Tig Cooler - Craiglist find

Today my local Craigslist had an ad for a "Miller Chiller". I went to check it out, and it turned out to be a Miller Radiator-1 cooler. After parting with $50 I took it home.

Before I fired it up I disassembled it and removed a lot of toxic gunk from the reservoir. After filling with fresh water I started it up. I don't currently have a water-cooled torch, so I connected a clear plastic tube between the out and in ports. It seemed to push a lot of water and the pressure seemed good. The pump did seem pretty noisy however. I'm guessing that it should be nearly silent, right? Anyone familiar with these Radiator-1 coolers?

i got the same one they work great.nice price too.mine isn't that quiet either,but it still works

mines quite all you hear is the fan. the fan is new the one that was on was dry rotted. and to think they were throwing it away so i took it home took it all a part cleaned everything even the pump. readjusted the pump flow runs like a champ

Is it hard to take the pumps apart? I'd like to get mine to be a little quieter. It's an Oberdorfer pump.

go to the miller site and look up the manule and down load it. easier to do that than me try to explain it here i type with 2 fingers ok lol

Oberdorfer pumps are known for being noisy. They also require soluble lub in the water to lubricated.

I've just put a Tweco water cooler on my 300 amp OTC Tig and it also has the Oberdorfer pump and I agree it is very noisy also.
My Tweco cooler is brand new so it can't be a worn pump, maybe they are just noisy in general.
