i have a lincoln sq/wave 175, and just the other day i started having a pedal problem. when i barely touch the pedal, i am instantly at full amperage. i have had this welder for about 10 years and have never had a lick of trouble with it. i am just assuming that the pedal is the problem, as i have had similar problems at work with our dynasty 200. any suggestions? repair or replace it? any help would be greatly appreciated.

does it do the same when using "local", if not check inside the pedal and check pot, wires back to socket etc

Get the manual for it from lincolns' web site. Go to the parts section and it should list the values of the pot, (resistance and wattage). Find the wires in the amphenol for your variable output. Put an ohm meter across them and start rocking the pedal. If it goes wide open and stays there, you either have a wire touching something inside the pedal, or your pot went on a permanent vacation. If the readings on the pedal are ok, (from 0 to it's maximum listed value), it's time to start looking inside the welder. Hope this helps. ---Mike---
pot = potentiometer... Lincoln might call it a resistor.BUY AMERICAN... THE JOB YOU SAVE MAY BE YOUR OWN!!!!!

Like Jake_SS said. Check the wires back to the amphenol, could be a pinched wire at the socket clamp.BUY AMERICAN... THE JOB YOU SAVE MAY BE YOUR OWN!!!!!
