  • 4500 champion/tig conversion

    they say there is no dumb questions so here goes. I have a Hobart 4500 gas driven AC welder. also have the harbour frieght inverter tig welder DC only. can I take the tig tourch and hook it up to the stinger lead. hook up argon gas to the torch. (it has a thumb control for gas on and off) and weld alum. using scratch start on copper. which I have to do with the harbour frieght welder. have the miller 180 with the spoolmate 100 for heavy stuff but want to weld some light gauge alum. using tig around the marina. and do not want to by another welder have 5 already.need positive reply and info please.diverdown
    2001 dodge 4x4 welding truck.Hobart champion 10.000 miller 180 auto set with spool gun.SIP 25 amp plasma cutter. Miller Diversion 165 Tig. 1996 28 foot Bayliner to haul diving and welding equipment around the lake.

    Not without a Hi-frequency box. You won't be able to keep the arc lit.

      Hi-freqency box

      were would I find one and what kind of a Hi-frequency box would I need for my Hobart 4500 to use for AC tig. thanks diver down
