Hello All,
I inherited this welder from the wife's grandparents. Wondering if anyone had an update on what to set it on. I been burning some rods on 3, but being I have never welded, I just put it on the middle setting. Grandmother-in-law was 81 a couple of years ago and she had me in her late husbands shop burning some rods. She had it on 3 as well.
It is a Hobart Brothers from Troy Ohio, but when I called them and gave them the model number from the data plate, they could not find any kind of user manual even from their microfish. From what I can figure using the data plate, the 1 - 5 settings is how many amps it welds, but the A - D does not mean anything to me or have anything on the data plate. It must be an AC only welder as their is no data on the DC settings side. The fine adjustment wheel must let you adjust the amps in each setting.
Data Plate:
1 - 20 to 45
2 - 37 to 80
3 - 60 to 110
4 - 90 to 140
5 - 120 to 180
I see it is single phase, 60 cycle, and 20% duty cycle. How long can I weld before letting it cool?
I wired it with a 50 amp breaker using 6-2 wire.
Any help would be appreciated as I would like to play with this as a hobby. I have been reading and learning for some time from the postings.
thanks,
VandyBart
