Just picked up a new Hobart 140 and am looking for C25 shielding gas. I think 80cf will be a sensible size for me and I called a few companies in the San Diego area. The best price I found was $220 for a full bottle that I own. Subsequent fills are $60. Does this sound like the going rate? I'm aware I can probably save a few bucks by buying someone else's non-leased bottle, but they appear to be a bit thin o the ground over here and a lot of the ads seem sketchy. Thanks.

Student Discount
Ask about "Student Discounts" as some places have them.
If the Counter person doesn't know, ask to talk to his manager to see what is available in the way of encouraging "Loyalty and Future Business". They are all bottom line driven to some degree.
With you and the power of the Internet to bad mouth or encourage, that is a pretty powerful tool!
