    You can feed it into a heat treat oven to keep oxygen from knife blades while heat treating.

    I saw this in the rockler book a while ago. Did'nt realize it was just argon.
    I belive that the Declaration of Independacne, The Consitution, and The Bill of Rights are stored in cases purged with argon to prevent deterioration.

    Argon is poorer heat conductor than air so it has been used to inflate divers dry suit providing better insulation.

    "Argon is used in winemaking to displace oxygen in barrels and thus prevent the formation of vinegar. Similarly, it is used in restaurant, bar and home wine dispensing units to allow storage of opened bottles without degradation of the contents."

    I also use it to inflate the struts on my Cessna 310! They normally are inflated with nitrogen, but I don't have a bottle of that, and all it takes is to put on the adapter and crack the valve. WaLaa!

    I've actually been doing that for years - just from my welding cylinder, not from an aerosol can It works great. I get a lot more life out of opened paints now.
