hi, i am new to this site & to gas cutting torches i have looked & cant find my answer.
i am looking to get a victor medalist 250 lpg med. duty cutting kit & i would like to run the hose length out to a max of 50 ft.
can i go that far &, what size hose do i need & if i cant got that far what is the max length & hose size, the max steel i will be cutting is 1 in. at the very most 2 in..

thank you, for your help......... clod

You probably want larger diameter hose...

Be aware the 250 set comes with 3/16 x 25 ft grade "R" hose (Acetylene only) ...

Better hose option would be a 50 foot 3/8 hose and Grade "T" (all fuels including LPG), Grade "R" hose is for Acetylene only.

If not 3/8 maybe 1/4 inch...

50' isn't all that far. I'm sure I can find a chart somewhere, and it may or may not agree, but a 1/4" Grade T hose will probably do the job fine.

Check torch specs many of newer torches have them (flash back arrestors) built in....

LPG (propane) uses a different tip than acetylene, "but" you may get buy with acetylene tips...Usually orifices are bigger for propane tips.. ...

But what diameter.... If he just adds another 25 feet of 3/16 (which comes with the set) isn't flow going to be come effected... I really think with the longer the distance the larger the diameter of the hose needs to be to not adversely effect flow....

And the flow needed for cutting a specific thickness is part of the math, too. I didn't look for a chart, but it can be found with a bit of Googling.
