  • 190 or ? for .025 Wire

We just had a good thread on the 190 but for me I felt like it was incomplete. I have a 250 class welder. I think I want a .025 MiG wire welder rather than change wire, rollers and a gun on my Hobart Beta MIG 2510 welder. I was thinking the 190 would give a good duty cycle for running small wire over like a 140. If you compare the 190 to the 210 MVP running only small wire is there any reason to buy the 210 MVP over the 190?

Do you think I would be better off using my big welder for small wire?

Why do you need to use .025 wire? Many sheet metal projects, special technique, etc? If so, I think you are right.

I am thinking sheet metal. I need to learn good technique.

Well it turns out IOC Welding Supplies has a deal going if you buy a welder you get a helmet for 1/2 price. So I decided to take advantage of the deal. It also turns out Hobart has a $100 back on the 210 MVP so I bought a 210MVP and a Lincoln 3350 4C helment for 1/2 price. With the $100 back it means I get the Lincoln 3350 4C helmet basically for free.

There may be a little more duty cycle for the small wire using the Hobart 210 MVP over the 190. I plan to keep .024 wire in the 210 MVP all the time.
