  • Lincoln Power MIG 180C vs 180HD?

Any ideas what the differences are between a Lincoln Power MIG 180C and a Lincoln 180HD? I know the Power MIGs are sold at welding shops, while the 180HD and 180 Pro MIGs are sold at Home Depot/Lowe's. From what I can tell, all of them accept a spool gun, but I cannot determine what the differences are among these 180a welders.

    Thanks!

Well for one thing, the HD model is a tapped machine, whereas the 180C is a continuous "C" adjustment.

.. as well as having Continuous Voltage selection

... where as the SP180T, 180HD etc have a Tapped Voltage selection

Thanks for the responses. I have a chance to pick up a new in box 180HD for $450, and I wanted to see what the main differences were between it and the Power MIG.

How would this unit compare with the HH187? I know the 187 is a 7 tap, whereas the HD is a 5 tap. Other than the number of taps, any significant differences? I believe TSC is running a special on the HH187 for $599, but I can get the Lincoln for $450.

Spend the additional $149.00 for the Hobart. The extra you paid will be quickly forgotten once you start using it.
