  • BETA MIG 200 voltage readings

    Hi, newbee here.
I have a Beta Mig 200 am wondering how to measure the open Cercuit Voltage. ( actual welding voltage for each power setting ).

I'm not really heavy into electronics, so someone else here may know better then I do...but if you remove the cover, you should be able to check the voltage using a volt meter at the back of the selector switch.

Open circuit voltage is one thing, actual welding voltage is another entirely.

To measure open circuit voltage, put the leads of a DC voltmeter onto the output studs of the welder and pull the trigger to engage the contactor. Voila, open circuit voltage.

Finding actual welding voltage under load takes a little more effort.

Actual welding voltage under load is what I need.

To get actual welding voltage leave your volt meter clipped to same place and record reading while welding. Easier to have friend take readings. Use clamp on DC amp meter around ground lead to get amp reading.

Slowman, Don't forget that your actual welding voltage at each power setting can vary with wire feed speed and wire size. ---Mike---
