I don't know when they were first made but is was some time in the 50's. Used to work on them about 30 years ago. There is a lot on moving parts in these units so breakdowns were common. These are a cv machine so their intended use is for mig welding only.I doubt that any parts are available and they sucked up a lot of power to operate even at idle. If it were me I would pass on this one. You would be far better off to buy somthing a little newer and smaller. Just my 2 cents.

    Hobart MC-300 Welder

I have a chance to buy a 3PH Hobart MC 300 power unit with the wire feeder for $400.00 So I have some questions.
I would like to know when they were first manufactured and for how long.
    Are they CC or CV?
    Are they good reliable welders?
    Are parts still available?
