Hey guys I currently have a 230v mig welder I use in the shop all the time. I have been thinking about buying a 110v machine for small jobs at customers locations. Most of my customer have 575v power all over the place but 230v is rare. So I found an ad selling a 110v welder for $100. I thought it must be some cheap thing since the ad didn't mention the brand. Anyway I e-mail asking what brand and this is the answer I got. -powermate (hobart) model number is c11597 . I haven't found anything yet on this machine so I am looking for info on it.

If it's a "Powermate" it's not a Hobart, and if it's a Hobart, it's not a Powermate. Powermate welders were made by Century for awhile.
And if it's this one:
"powermate(hobart) mig welder - $100 (agawam)
powermate mig welder 110v great condition the only thing is the wire feeder needs to be fixed dosnt feed. should be an easy fix "
Then I'd run the other direction. I wouldn't take a broken one for free.Trailblazer 302 * Millermatic 212 * Syncrowave 180SD * X-Treme 12VS Feeder * Spoolmate 3035
Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52 Plasma * Lincoln 175 MIG
Victor Superrange II * Victor Journeyman

Different ad but thanks for your input. This one is located in Canada. I did think it strange about the Hobart part. I actually have a Century Welder that I like but with them no longer around once something no consumable breaks I will be shopping for a new Hobart. If I here back from this fellow I may go look at it today. If it welds ok for $100 it will be fine but if there is anything missing/broken I will walk.

I just thought it was strange that the ad title was worded the same as the response you got from the seller. What are the chances of two ads both listed as "powermate (hobart) mig welder" at the same time...
The one I saw was western Massachusetts. Was the one you saw on Craigslist?Trailblazer 302 * Millermatic 212 * Syncrowave 180SD * X-Treme 12VS Feeder * Spoolmate 3035

It is strange and when I googled for a Hobart Pwermate I saw the Craigslist ad. That made me think there might be such a thing but it had been discontinued of soemthing. The one I saw was on a Kiijiji Ad for my local town of Chatham-Kent Ontario. I am waiting to see if I can go look at it today. Now I am intrigued by the whole thing.

Ok I went and looked at the Powermate Welder last night. It is not a Hobart although it is Hobart colours. It's about 20 years old. Unbranded but it doesn't look like any chinese made junk that is being sold today. It was bought from a lws. It was set up with a small c25 bottle but since the guy was planning to buy a 240v unit I am sure he was keeping that. I didn't try the unit out because being older it was actually bigger then the 240v unit I own and I wanted something more portable. I guess I will wait for another deal to come along. Oh and his son put the ad on the internet and messed up the price he is actually asking $200 for it. I believe it would be worth it and will make a nice machine for someone.
