  • Replacement MIG gun

Has anyone replaced the H-10 gun with something different? If so what did you replace it with, and how do you like it? I'm not too crazy about the H-10 gun so i'm looking for some options to try something different. Thanks in advance.

Could you post the reasons why you don't like the H-10? We're always looking for potential improvement ideas (realistic and practical).

    Thanks,

You could order a Bernard Q gun with a Miller back end and swap out the H10 back end....I wouldn't go over 10ft with it as the drive rolls probably wont like the added resistance from a longer gun....what machine do you have? ...

Darrell one thing I'd like to see is longer/different angle head tubes and possibly some different nozzles.......and I'd really like to see a Bernard back end for the newer Hobart machines.....

        Hi Darrell,
A couple things which i dont like are the handle, it's not the most comfortable, and also the angle of the head tube. Occassionally i have a slight feeding problem with the gun also, even after replacing the liner and even trying an over sized tip. The length is fine, but maybe if you offered the same back end as Millers it would be easier for people to swap out for a different replacement gun.

Hey Mike, you make a point that completely slipped my mind about just swapping the back ends on the guns, thanks. I dont have a problem with the 10 foot length, so I'm not worried about going longer. I have a HH187. The gun is about the only flaw to me in the machine... I absolutely fell in love with the arc the first time I tried it. I used to have an older Lincoln MIG which I sold after purchasing the HH187 a couple years ago... but if Hobart ever updates the IM250 I might just have to purchase another big MIG.
