  • Idea to discourage theft

I did not think of this until three days after my welder was stolen. It was in a locked shed and had an additional chain securing it to tractor. It was being used maybe once a month. It was to heavy for me to move in and out of my house.
If you remove the mig (hose/gun)from welder and store in another place it would make it much harder to sell if not complete. Not may dirtbags want to invest in a gun to sell something for a bag of dope!

That surely is an idea! I get so tired of folks thinking they are entitled to your stuff - scumbags, all of them. Which reminds me, I forgot to padlock the cabinet last night...

Sorry to hear about this, I hope they get what they deserve.

Not many dirtbags would even know there was something missing until after they'd stolen it and tried to sell it. Sad to say I don't think that would be much of a deterrent.

        afraid i have to agree.

several years ago someone stole a bunch of cordless tools from me.
the good news was that all the batteries and the charger were
in a different spot -- and the dirtbags either missed it or didn't care
or didn't know... so they got tools with no batteries -- which i
can't believe have a high street value -- i mean, if you buy the tool
you still need to get a battery, which is in the range of $50. and
a charger for ... so if the tool new was $100, and you had to spend
say $75 for a battery and charger, that doesn't leave much for
        the tool itself...

so maybe the dirtbags got $5/tool ...

and i ended up with replacement tools/batteries/charger plus the
        old ones as spares :-)

People who break into your property are working on adrenaline mostly... (I known I'd be listening for the sound of someone taking a baseball bat out of the closet if I were a thief...)

It's good though... takes the sting out of getting your stuff stolen when they do dumb stuff...

Came home one day years ago... stereo was gone... Rack full of CD's was standing there still full... in the drawer, where all the empty CD cases were (all the ones for the car were in a small folder)... empty... Someone stole a bunch of empty CD cases... =) Upstairs bedroom stereo was sitting on the floor... They had it all completely disconnected... except for the FM antenna wire... I guess it came up tight and they put it down and left... =)

I still imagine them rushing through the house expecting the police (or me) to arrive and beat the #$%t out of them... makes me smile...

Here in Columbus Ohio, someone tried to mug someone else, someone else #2 got mad and beat up someone else #1, then took $30 out of his wallet for the trouble. That makes me smile!
            Reported to police.
