  • Miller XMT? A local shop is selling this, what is it exactly ....

    "welder xmt 300 cc/cv

nice xmt up for grabs it just sits around our shop and got no use for it so if you would like it email me."

the price is right certainly compared to what the new ones seem to cost, and is within my budget, but I am a newbie and I don't even know what this is. I imagine it would be overkill for me but what little experience I have says you can rarely get too good of a tool.

I am looking to do some mig stuff now later if I get good enough I would like to do more Aluminum and to TIG could be nice. I was all set to buy something else when someone told me about this thing.

      Hey macdarren,
The XMT is a great piece of equip. as I used one a few years ago at a fab shop and never had an issue with it. You have to determine input voltage & current requirements to see if you have to do some serious wiring to use it to its' full power availability. You are probably talking around 80A input current and you need to know if it is single or 3 phase. If you can get it for a good price, go for it.... Denny

An XMT-300 is indeed a great welder but has been replaced by the XMT-304 hence the great price. Remember it is DC only but I would dearly love to have one for myself. It's one welder you likely won't out grow.
        Flash me! I'm a welder.

If the "something else" is the HH210 go back to that plan.

The XMT is a Power source- you will need a Wire feeder- unless that is part of the Package.
