  • Blade for the 4x6 habor freight bandsaw

Hey does anyone have any idea if I could use a 1/4" wide blade rather than the 1/2" blade on the Harbor Freight 4x6 Band saw? The reason I ask is because I screwed up when ordering a Lenox blade that was custom made to replace the crappy one that came with the machine. I blew $42 bucks on it. I'd hate to think I can't use it anywhere.

I know enough to be able to say why not? If the shoe fits kind of thing put it on and cut?

Since all guides, rollers, adjustments and drive wheels on this low priced saw will be designed for a 1/2 inch blades, I would say it is not likely that you could do this. You definitely don't want saw teeth running on guide rolls, as this would ruin tooth set, and damage roller surfaces. Same thing for drive pulleys. Probably be wise to just sell the blade to someone who uses them.
