Will .023/.024 Wire Help Me Make a Smaller Bead?

I am going to be welding some small mild steel brackets with my HH175 and want to make the bead size as small as possible without compromising penetration. I normally use .030 wire.

Just wondering whether using .023/.024 wire will give me a little more control over making the bead smaller without hurting weld quality?
