  • Thread Sealant For Flowmeter Fittting?

    Hi,
I need to change a fitting on my flowmeter that I am going to use for CO2 and would like to know if anyone can tell me what is the recommend sealant for the threads.
    Thanks,
    Dave

Regular old Teflon tape, available anywhere and works.

Is it a fitting that seals on the threads, or a fitting that pushes two mating surfaces together? If the latter, you don't use any kind of sealant.

Like MAC said...if it has the big brass "knobby end" that goes in , that is the seating surface. the threads do noting more than supply mechanical pressure to that joint. Any type of sealant won't work, and will possibly ruin the fitting. If its the fine thread meter fitting, yes, the tape, but don't apply it in such a way that any can get into the line.

I generally start the tape one thread from the end to prevent getting any in the line/system.

            Hi,
I was just changing the inlet nipple. I was 1/4 npt. Used teflon tape and worked fine. I thought maybe there was some kind of magic sealant they used on these. Works fine.
            Thanks everyone,
            Dave
