  • More stainless repair....

It seems that I get everyone's MUCKED UP attempts at stainless welding to fix......
This is a mixer tub that the owner tried to save some money and repair himself....

Stainless doesn't like to be welded twice, but I think this repair will be OK

It doesn't mind being welded twice if it is nice and clean, but that section with the burn through wouldn't have liked it at all.

How did it end up looking on the inside? Did you have to polish it up at all?

I can relate! I get jobs in the shop like that frequently. Seems like nobody knows what NSF and 3A standards are anymore. I get funny looks when I say I get 20 bucks to put a handle back on a Revereware pot, but it's solid and sanitary when done. Stainless fuel tanks are a scream also. A local drag racing team had a couple tanks fabed up by a shop that employees mostly "beam burners". Apparently pitted welds are ok on beam joints, but they don't fair well in tank seams. So 2X the money they saved having the other operation make the tanks, they paid me to correct the tanks.
That muck job on the mixer bowl is actually and easy fix. I would like consider replacing the entire bottom section within the ring. Then re-polish the inside.
I did that for the local Pizza Hut 15 years ago on the Saturday night before Super Bowl Sunday. Slept thru the game.

Yeah it was terrible.....But it was for the county jail so I guess it was OK as long as it didn't leak anymore...LOL

OMGWTFBBQ! Dang he sure messed that thing up.

I'd like to own it myself. A little copper tubing configured properly and a bottom where the top should be...............well lets just say that the sweet aroma of spirits would fill the air.

Yeah sugared pretty bad....But they didn't care (especially after comparing their repair with mine)

BC--IF you are getting as much stainless repair as you state, and when I read your post I seem to read into your words some pride, then you must be doing something right. Keep up the good work. Thanks, David
